Investigation launched after body of man found in Roscommon
A probe has been initiated following the discovery of a body in Roscommon during the early hours of Sunday.
At 2am on September 15, emergency services found the body of a man in his 50s, believed to be a cyclist, at Cloonchambers, Castlerea. He was declared dead at the scene and his body has since been taken to Roscommon University Hospital.
Gardai are currently investigating "all circumstances" surrounding the death. The results of a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to take place soon, will guide the direction of their inquiries.

The area where the body was found has been sealed off for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, with local traffic diversions now in effect. Gardai are urging witnesses or anyone with information, especially those with dash-cam footage from the area between midnight and 2am on Sunday 15th September 2024, to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson has stated: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Castlerea area from 12am (midnight) to 2am on Sunday 15th September 2024 are asked to make this footage available to Gardai.", reports the Irish Mirror.
They added: "Anyone with any information is asked to contact Castlerea Garda Station on 094 9621 630, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
