Credit cards at the ready, Apple is holding its annual September product launch event tonight. Though, it might be a little different to what we’ve come to expect from the tech giant.

With the global pandemic causing supply chain delays for companies such as Google, Apple has also warned its new iPhone won’t be arriving on schedule but a few weeks later. Does that mean fans will still get to see the new iPhone 12 tonight or be forced to wait a few weeks?

There's still a few hours until we find out.

In the meantime, here’s what else we’re expecting to see at the Apple event tonight.

As Apple events mainly take place at Apple Park in California, everything takes place a little later in the day for UK fans.

Everything will kick off at 6pm UK time and should finish by 8pm. There’s a few ways you can tune in, mainly via Apple’s website and the company’s YouTube channel. We’ll also be reporting all the news live at standard.co.uk/tech.

What to expect at Apple’s iPhone 12 event

There’s still a lot of uncertainty over whether tonight is the opportunity for Apple to reveal its new iPhone 12 range, which will include the company’s first 5G iPhone.

What we do expect, however, is that there will definitely be a new Apple Watch announced, no least because the tag line for the event says “Time flies.” The new Apple Watch 6 is expected to have new finishes and colours, and thinner than last year’s Watch 5. We hope the new watch comes with a bigger battery to enjoy all the new watchOS 7 features like sleep tracking.

There could also be a new iPad Air unveiled tomorrow. Rumours point to the device receiving an upgraded look so it is more like the current iPad Pro, that means a larger screen, no bezels, flat edges and no home button. But that doesn’t mean the end of TouchID, as Apple may look to include a TouchID sensor on the side, as well as updating the iPad Air’s processor.

It’s not just gadgets that Apple could be set to launch tomorrow. After introducing subscriptions last year in the form of Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, the company could add to this roster with a new fitness subscription service that would work with the Apple Health app and Apple Watch.

In addition, the company could be set to bundle all these subscription services together into something called Apple One which would include things like Apple Music so customers pay one price to access all things Apple.

One thing we do know for certain is that the company’s new software upgrades, iOS 14 and watchOS 7 will get official release dates in order to time their release for the new products.

Even if the new iPhone isn’t revealed tonight, there’s certainly a lot to keep you occupied.
