iPhone security feature gets 'game-changer' update - but some say it'll cause break-ups
Apple iPhone fans are still discovering all of the improvements the iOS 18 update has provided. While some people are raving about one of the new security features, others think it could cause relationships to break down.
The most prominent feature of iOS 18 is the level of control it gives to the user, over the way things look, and how apps are accessed. For example, iPhone owners now have the ability to lock any app behind Face ID or Touch ID.
This means that before the app can launch, it has to be verified via face or fingerprint. Previously, apps could only be locked behind Face ID or Touch ID if developers added the security feature.

Thankfully, this new feature will make it difficult for thieves who steal iPhones to reset logins, even with two-step identification, because they will not be able to access the Message app or Email.
Another reason will be to stop people from snooping through your apps, even if you allow them to use your phone for another reason. It’s now possible to lock anything, from Photos to Instagram and everything in between.
Sharing their delight on social media, one user remarked on the news: “One of the most useful new features in iOS 18 is the ability to lock any app and need Face ID to open! When I mirror the app on my Mac, the same app, when I opened in the mirrored version, asks for my Touch ID! The handover is incredibly smooth and seamless!”
Another person remarked: “Yo, the ability to hide and lock apps with Face ID in iOS 18 is a game-changer for privacy!”
However, other people felt the feature was going too far and would make it easier if someone wanted to cheat on their partner. Other users speculated about who at Apple came up with the detail and whether they wanted to be unfaithful. One user wrote: “I wonder who at Apple got caught cheating on their spouse. Allowing Face ID for Individual apps with the iOS 18 update is diabolical, truly.”
Another person commented that you could also ‘hide’ apps now. They remarked: “All iOS 18 did was make it easier for these people to cheat…. yall they made it to where you can require Face ID to open apps and you can “hide” apps.”
And someone else penned: “Lmao the cheaters really finna cheat with this new IOS 18 update you can literally require a Face ID on anything on your phone.”
