Apple continues to take over the world with the latest announcement of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
Live from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, the world was introduced to a slew of new products from the first trillion-dollar company. Apple fans across the globe flew to the live stream to catch the first glimpse of the new phones.
Several leaks earlier in the month had attempted to spoil the surprise, but the new releases subverted all expectation and impressed tech fans worldwide. Apple was proud to announce it had sold more than 2 billion iOS devices in its lifetime – and we suspect it's about to sell a few more.
Apple CEO Tim Cook says that if the iPhone X was the cutting edge of future smartphones, bringing in FaceID and intelligent cameras to a device you can fit in your pocket, then "the new iPhone will be the most advanced iPhone we have ever created". And they certainly aren't wrong.
iPhone XS and XS Max updates
The iPhone XS will ship with a 5.8-inch OLED Retina Display, which will support HDR10 and Dolby Vision for some truly incredible images. Apple claimed during the conference that users will experience more than 60 percent greater dynamic range of colours on the iPhone X, so all your TV binging will be brighter than ever before.
The famous notch makes a return to the top of the phone, and Apple has rolled in a new colour – Gold – to add to Silver and Space Grey, making it even harder to choose your style.
A sturdy, "surgical-grade" steel frame will protect all the new tech crammed into the iPhone XS, as well a more durable glass back to allow for wireless charging and ApplePay transactions.
One of the bigger updates coming to the iPhone XS and XS Max is the upgrade to a whopping 512GB storage capacity, so you'll never fall short of space to fit your many, many selfies.
The cheapest way to get an iPhone XS, as ever, is to get it on contract with a mobile provider, subsidising the cost over many months (although you will end up spending loads more doing this in the long run).

To partner the release of the iPhone XS, Apple went bigger and bolder with the iPhone XS Max.
The massive phone comes with a super-size 6.5-inch Super Retina Display, which is staggeringly big when compared to the paltry 3.5-inch iPhone 3G launched more than 10 years ago.
The phone itself is actually no bigger than the iPhone 8 Plus from 2017, but the screen stretches the entirety of the phone front – minus the notch at the top – to utilise every single inch of space.
