Iraqi Forces Capture Mosul Airport as Ground Offensive Pushes North

Iraqi Special Forces said they had captured Mosul Airport from Islamic State fighters on February 23 after heavy clashes in the area. A number of nearby sites were also captured, including the entire airport complex and a nearby sugar refinery.

In addition to the capture of the Mosul Airport, a notably strategic advance for Iraqi forces, Special Forces said on February 24 that the al-Ghazlani Military Camp was taken from Islamic State fighters.
