Irish crime drama Kin gets season 3 update after BBC iPlayer success
Kin star Emmett J Scanlan has shared an update on a possible third season of the Irish crime drama.
The acclaimed series debuted its second season on RTÉ in Ireland in early 2023, before becoming available to UK viewers on BBC One and iPlayer in February 2024.
While a third season is yet to be confirmed, Kin's new level of success on the BBC has led to "a little bit" of a "bidding war" amid ongoing negotiations, according to Scanlan.

During a recent appearance on This Morning, the Jimmy Kinsella actor said: "I don't know if there's going to be season three. It hasn't been greenlit yet.
"There is a little bit of a – I don't know if I'm stepping out of line when I say this – maybe even a bidding war.
"But there is a lot of interest in it. I hope it comes back again. I would love to take on the role of Jimmy again. I'd love to."
Scanlan previously told RadioTimes he was "remaining as positive as possible" that new episodes could be in the pipeline.

"There are a lot of people who are interested in buying it, so I believe. But who it's going to be and where it's going to land, I have no idea," he said.
"I try to remain as positive as possible. I love the show and am so proud to have been a part of it. If indeed we come back for a season three – and I know the numbers on BBC iPlayer were insane – I'll be there in a heartbeat."
Also starring Daredevil: Born Again's Charlie Cox, Game of Thrones' Aidan Gillen, Belfast's Ciarán Hinds and Spider-Man's Clare Dunne, Kin focuses on local crime family the Kinsellas as they face off against the Cunningham cartel after a boy is killed.
The series was also made available to stream on Netflix in May.
Kin airs on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and is broadcast on RTÉ in Ireland, while in the US it airs on AMC+.
