Irish Open prizemoney full breakdown as Rory McIlroy and DP World stars battle for lucrative title

The DP World Tour comes to Northern Ireland for the Amgen Irish Open this week and the prizemoney on offer is the most lucrative for any non-Rolex Series events on the European Tour.

Rory McIlroy headlines the field this week at Royal County Down with other Irish household names like Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Seamus Power and Tom McKibbin lining up.

Holywood's finest McIlroy, now world No.3 behind Americans Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, is bidding to win his home open for the second time in his career. His record in the Irish Open is patchy however, registering just one win and two top 10s in his 14 starts. He has missed the cut five times.

The Irish Open is one of the oldest events on the Tour. It was a pre-European Tour event from 1927-1953 and officially became a regular Euro Tour event in 1975. It became part of the prestigious Rolex Series in 2017 but that ended in 2019.

Despite that face, there is a huge amount of prize money to play for with the Amgen Irish Open offering a $6m total purse - some £4.6 million. The winner will walk away with $1,020,000 - £780,000. That's the biggest prize for any non-Rolex Series event this season.

McIlroy will join McKibbin and Swedish amateur Vincent Norman for the opening two rounds after the tee times were confirmed on Tuesday. They will get their opening round under way at 1pm on Thursday, starting from the first hole.

Lowry will also start from the first hole. His round begins at 12.40pm alongside Robert MacIntyre and Ryan Fox.
