A pair of Irish teenage tourists have been arrested in Magaluf after trying to pay for drinks using ‘Monopoly money’, according to reports.
The holidaymakers, both aged 18, were in the tourist hotspot of Punta Ballena when they reportedly tried to use the fake notes on a night out.
Local media reported that they found the ‘money’, which was part of a promotion and clearly not legal tender, on the floor of a bar.
They then tried to use the notes to buy drinks, but were spotted by a waitress who told the manager.
Authorities were called and the pair were arrested and charged with non-serious fraud, according to reports.

They have since reportedly been released on bail after appearing before a judge.
