Irvine Sharks continue perfect start to the season with win over Glasgow University

The Irvine Sharks made it five wins from five in SLBA Division Two thanks to a 72-53 away win over Glasgow University Tigers.

The visitors got off to a slow start as the Tigers opened up the scoring however the Sharks bounced back as they got things going offensively as well as shutting their opponents down defensively.

Graham Hunter top scored with 24 points followed by Chris McCallum adding 10 points.

New addition to the squad this season, Stefano Kalonji, commented: “Our first early start game of the season had the guys a bit slow out the gates in the first half, but we picked it up in the second despite some full court pressure from the Tigers.

"We continue to build on each game and we’re proud of everyone’s contributions so far with our 5-0 start.

"We’ve got a great bunch of guys who are supportive, and we push each other to give our best efforts every time – it’s been a fun journey so far.”

The Sharks are back in action on Friday at Greenwood Academy (7.3pm tip-off) against East Kilbride Spartans and then take on Aberdeen Arrow on Sunday (2.30pm tip-off) in the first round of the Chair’s Cup.
