Is Chris Evans Crashing Out Of Top Gear?

All we’ve been hearing about for the past year is that Chris Evans is going to save Top Gear from being written off completely after Jeremy Clarkson was sacked for punching a producer in a row about a steak.

And now it looks like the flame haired saviour could be crashing into a shockingly early exit from the BBC show. What has happened to cause the massive u-turn?

Sources have revealed the TFI Friday star got the “biggest telling off of his career" by BBC boss Kate Phillips over his “control freak” behaviour on set, just weeks into the motoring show’s latest series.

The presenter has been told in no uncertain terms that he’ll need to get on board with changes and if he doesn’t, he can hitch hike home for good.

The source told The Sun newspaper: “He’s now going to be told there will be changes and if he doesn’t like it then he should go.”

Meanwhile, Friends star and co-host Matt LeBlanc is reportedly being lined up to front Top Gear alone because he is recognised world wide.

The source added: “Matt is more well-known and popular with audiences, so Chris will take a back seat like he did towards the end of the series.“

We think Chris is a pro and we can’t see him leaving without a fight. Top Gear returns to BBC Two on Sunday at 8pm.
