Is S Club’s Rachel Stevens Heading To Walford?

Pop beauty Rachel Stevens has confessed that she’s been ‘in talks’ to star in EastEnders.

The former S Club 7 singer is no stranger to acting having starred in Miami 7 and L.A.7. Ok, so she might have played herself in both shows, but that’s not important right now.

What is important is that she’s now planning to turn her hand to soap. She told The Sun: “There’s been talks about EastEnders in the past, which would be really fun to do a cameo role in, or something that would be unexpected or different.”

She went on to say that her commitments to the band, including their reunion tour last year, have prevented her from taking on roles in the past, but she’s now keen to step into Albert Square.

She added: “ I would love to get back into acting. Definitely. Things have come up in the past but it’s always been a timing thing, like when we were on tour. A lot of these things are about timing.

“It would be an amazing experience. I want something that will challenge me in a different way. EastEnders is my local. It’s around the corner for me so it would be perfect.”

Being close to home would be a bonus to Rachel who is mum to five-year-old Amelie and Minnie, 2.

The singer married Alex Bourne in 2009, having previously dated ex-Hollyoaks actor Jeremy Edwards.

Rach wouldn’t be the first pop star to make the move into soaps. Former HearSay singer Kym Marsh has played Michelle Connor in Coronation Street for ten years. Kym’s ex bandmate Suzanne Shaw had a stint in Emmerdale and former X Factor winner Shayne Ward is currently starring alongside Kym in Corrie.
