Home and Away has been the starting point for a number of Hollywood actors, including Chris Hemsworth, Samara Weaving and Isla Fisher, and now one of those stars has revealed that they'd be up for making a Summer Bay comeback.

She hasn't been a part of the soap for over 20 years, but Fisher has shared the news that she has "thought about" returning to the show, after previously playing Shannon Reed between 1994 and 1997.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, the actress, who is married to Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, said of a potential comeback: "Of course I've thought about it! I've thought, 'Wouldn't it be hilarious?'

"But then the reality of it is, obviously, you have to give lots of notice and then it gets written in and then you have to commit. But obviously it would be fun just to sort of like, walk by with a surfboard or something at some point."

It may not quite be a full comeback, but we'd certainly love to see it.

Shannon's storylines during her three years on the soap included a battle with anorexia, a reunion with her birth mother after being adopted and developing a connection with an author named Mandy, who she eventually left the Bay with.

Since leaving Home and Away, Fisher has enjoyed a successful Hollywood career, having starred in major movies including Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic and Now You See Me.

But she revealed that her favourite role of all came in 2013, when she played tragic Myrtle Wilson in the movie adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby.

"I will always say that for me, The Great Gatsby was just such a special experience," she said. "Not just to work with [director] Baz Luhrmann, who I'd admired from everything he's ever done, but I think just, you know, building Long Island the way we did in Sydney and just the sets and the scope and the scale and the character.

"That character, Myrtle, was just so different from anyone I've ever played and I got to do so much research. It just was delicious, every moment was divine."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia). Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
