Israeli Police Respond to Sites of Rocket Strikes Near Gaza Border

Israeli police said they responded to rocket strikes in Ashkelon, close to the border with Gaza, on the night of November 12.

Some 370 missiles were fired from Gaza into Israel, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The Ashkelon Municipality said it was opening public shelters in response to the strikes.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Hamas was responsible for the attacks. The Israel Defense Forces said they had begun strikes on “terror targets in the Gaza Strip” in response.

Earlier in the day, thousands of people attended the funerals of seven fighters with the al-Qassam Brigades killed the day before during an Israeli special forces operation in the Khan Younis neighborhood of Gaza. One Israeli officer was killed and a second was wounded during the incident, reports said. Credit: Israeli Police via Storyful
