Issa Diop hails West Ham's 'best fans in England' and working under Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham defender Issa Diop has hailed the Hammers fans as he continues to adapt to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old summer signing has been one of Manuel Pellegrini's standout performers this season after arriving from Toulouse.

Such performances have garnered praise from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, but Diop is only interested in his current boss and fans.

"Of course it’s nice," he told FootMercato. "But my coach is Manuel Pellegrini. So it’s his opinion that interests me the most. He advises me to continue to progress.”

Of Pellegrini, he added: "We have a very good relationship. It’s a relationship of coach to player. When I do bad things, he tells me. And when it’s good, he does the same. The goal is for me to make progress."

When asked if he is looking beyond West Ham, he replied: "Not at all. I'm at West Ham right now. I take the most pleasure from this. I try to give the best possible performance."

Diop has improved as the season has worn on, now boasting 10 league appearances, and continues to be impressed by the atmosphere home and away in England.

"It's incredible," he said. "Every weekend, the stadiums are full.

"In addition at West Ham, we are lucky to have very good supporters. They are the best fans in England. So that’s why the atmosphere is very good there.
