No criminal offences were committed after multiple reports of children being approached by “unknown men” in Leicester, according to police. One man has been identified and spoken to following the incidents which left children "shaken".

Investigations had been launched following the incidents which happened just off Leicester's Saffron Lane and in Eyres Monsell's Pasley Road. The first on Friday, October 25 saw two boys reportedly asked to come over to a vehicle in The Fairway by a man, while the second on Friday, November 1, saw a man reportedly walk towards a girl before she ran off to her group of friends.

Police said on Wednesday (November 6), that the incidents were not being treated as linked. They added that the descriptions of the men given in the reports were different.

In an update issued today (Friday, November 8), police said no criminal offences had been committed, but that one man had been identified as part of their investigations. The force said it had given the man “words of advice in relation to how his behaviour may have been perceived”.

The force added: “We appreciate the children concerned have been left distressed by these incidents and there has been some community concern, however we would like to reassure that we do not believe the incidents to be linked and no offences have taken place.

"All three children involved in these reports attend secondary schools in the South Leicester area. We are currently liaising with all schools to ensure any concerns or information is provided directly to police. If you have any concerns, please speak to your local beat officers by visiting our website.”
