ITV's Patrice Evra controversially patronises Eni Aluko

We're only a few days into the World Cup and already there's been a smattering of controversy at Russia 2018. Today (June 17) however, misogyny raised its ugly head as French pundit/footballer Patrice Evra appeared to patronise fellow panelist Eni Aluko.

Aluko, who plies her trade at Italian football side Juventus as of next season, was supplying some analysis on the Costa Rican team, but once she'd finished, Evra reacted in the most smug way you can imagine. "Very good…" he commented, as he clapped with a smile on his face.

One particularly outraged Twitter user posted the moment online, which you can find below.

ITV's coverage of the tournament has been plain sailing generally speaking, but Evra's sexist suggestion has certainly caused a stir online, with many fans even calling for the 37-year-old's sacking.

Another upset viewer shared this on social media: "Canny bit of patronising shite from Patrice Evra there on Eni Aluko (102 England caps 33 goals).

She gives a good analyses of Costa Rica and Evra claps saying well done then continues further on. 'Oh man she knows more than us'. Would he have said that to another male ex pro?"
