Wild at Heart was a show that made us want to get on the quickest plane to South Africa and look after incredible animals. But alas, we had to make do with watching Stephen Tompkinson get a tan every Sunday night.

The ITV drama ran for seven series plus a finale special from 2006 to 2012. It centred around a veterinary surgeon and his family who move from Bristol to South Africa in the hopes of revamping a game reserve for wild animals into a surgery and hospital.

But what has the ensemble cast been up to since?

Stephen had made a name for himself on BBC drama Ballykissangel and for movies like Brassed Off before taking on the lead role for all seven seasons of Wild at Heart.

Since the show ended, he has become best known for the ITV crime drama DCI Banks, which has run for five series so far. He has also starred in the Sky comedy Trollied and various stage productions including Spamalot.

Since 2007, she has been a judge on Simon Cowell's Britain's Got Talent, and has also turned to presenting shows like This Morning and Lorraine, and has also appeared in various stage productions including Shrek the Musical. She will return to acting in next year's Worst Witch reboot on CBBC.
