A brand new season of the hit ITV series, The Bay, has started filming in Morecambe today.
The show’s writer, Daragh Carville, made the announcement on social media this morning and said: “First day of filming on series four of The Bay. Love to all the cast and crew.”
Lancaster actor Joel Phillimore, who played Kyle Williams in the third season, also tweeted out a message of support to the cast and crew.
He said: “Lots of love and luck to returning (and new) cast and crew on The Bay as they start filming today. Hope you have a belter.”
The show’s production company, Tall Story Pictures shared a picture of a clapperboard for The Bay, along with the caption: “Yay! Day One. The Bay. Series 4. Here we go.”
Many people are excited about the announcement and promise to keep their eyes open for cast and crew around Morecambe.
One person said: “Here's wishing you all a fantastic time and I hope the set overflows with tea, coffee, biscuits and Gregg's pasties.”
“Would love to see Heysham Head in the Bay at some point or the local Park Run featuring,” said another.
“Another masterpiece in the making I’m sure,” said another.
“I'll keep my eyes peeled on my travels around town,” wrote another.
Season three of The Bay, which is set in Morecambe, saw DS Townsend (Marsha Thomason) thrown into the deep end when a body is found in the bay on her first day in the job.
The season saw her get under the skin of a grieving and complicated family in the hopes of solving the premature death of an aspiring young boxer.
A fourth season of The Bay was confirmed back in February.
The ITV press team has remained tight-lipped about the fourth season but say they will be issuing more details later this week.
The series has been nominated for three TV choice awards.
The Bay is up for Best Drama, with Dan Ryan up for Best Actor and Marsha Thomason up for Best Actress.
