ITV The Chase viewers say 'shocking scenes' after contestant's 'show record'
A record low offer was taken on The Chase today as Jenny 'The Vixen' put minus £17K on the table. The amount was taken by the contestant, who later went on to take some of winnings home to the dismay of viewers.
Kym, a retired teacher from Norfolk had impressed Bradley and The Chaser with her cashbuilder round which saw her take £8,000 to the table. With an offer of £75,000, Kym couldn't refuse and told Bradley: "It's very tempting to go for the 70, go on, I'll go for the 70, you only come here once." An impressed Bradley shook her hand in return.
After an excellent performance, the contestant made it back for the final round. The choices of the next two contestants up sent X, formerly known as Twitter, into an angry frenzy. Nicky, a health advisory consultant from Cambridge scored a respectable £7,000 in her cash builder round but opted to take the lower offer of £5,000 which immediately took away a chunk of Kym's winnings.

It was the decision of the next contestant which Chaser Jenny described as a "show record" that truly left some viewers with a sour taste in their mouth. Before taking the shocking offer, Chetan said: "Probably not going to be the most popular choice but I do think there is strength in numbers so I'm going to go for the -17."
Taking to social media some fans voiced their anger about the decision. One fan said: "-£17,000 on the chase. Should be ashamed of yourself." Another spoke about Nicky's decision to take the lower offer, saying: "The woman got 7 right and still took minus offer as well shocking scenes on the chase today." Further surprised fans stated: "MINUS SEVENTEEN THOUSAND?????? AND HE TOOK IT???????"
Some fans agreed with the decision for the contestants to take the lower offers. A viewer in agreeance said "Well done team, that proved everyone wrong that criticised them for taking the low offer." while another added "Well played Chetan - good tactics and decent final contribution."
