ITV The Chase's Anne Hegerty says condition impacts her love life with longest relationship lasting four months
The Chase star Anne Hegerty opened up about how her autism has affected her love life. The 62 year old quizzer, who was diagnosed with autism in her mid-40s, admitted that being on the spectrum has made it difficult for her to maintain relationships.
Hegerty discussed this in a teaser clip from spin-off show The Chasers Road Trip, which features her and fellow Chasers Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace travelling globally. She revealed that her longest relationship lasted only four months, primarily because her partner lived in Brighton while she resided in Manchester.
"He was a lovely bloke but I am just not good with the sort of amount of attention that people need," she confessed.

She has previously spoken about her romantic life, stating last year that although she does fall in love, it's usually with historical or fictional characters rather than people she meets in real life.
“I fall in love with historical or fictional characters. People I can put a bit of distance between,” she told OK! magazine.
"I get overwhelmed in the presence of actual people and everything shuts down. I've found that with sex, too. It's like I can't be fully in it. That much intimacy, I almost zone out."
Hegerty, a former journalist turned professional quizzer, joined the ITV show as The Governess in 2010.
The Chase airs on weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
