The Chase's Shaun Wallace is celebrating a major anniversary - saying it was the 'best achievement in my life'. The master quizzer joined the hit ITV game show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, in 2009 as an original Chase.

But away from the show he is a barrister as well as a part time law lecturer. Celebrating his 40th anniversary in law, he shared photos of the day he passed the bar.

Shaun, 65, wrote alongside the snaps: "These photos were taken on the 27th November 1984, the day I got called to the bar. Today is my 40th Anniversary as a barrister, one of the proudest and best achievements in my life."

Shaun, known as The Dark Destroyer on The Chase, visits schools, colleges and other institutions to give law lectures. He admitted his career as a barrister led to him making a decision not to have children.

Opening up about her personal life on the How To Be 60 podcast with Loose Women's Kaye Adams and co-host Karen MacKenzie, he revealed he was in a relationship but not married and had never had any children.

He said: "I suppose I'm married to my career. Put it that way. I like that. I prefer that and I'm happier." Speaking about the decision not to have children, he added: "It was a conscious reason when I was a young struggling barrister. I didn't think it would be right to bring up a child when you're trying to climb to the top of that greasy pole.

"And I've never regretted that decision. I've got 15 godchildren. Two of them are called Shaun and I'm the best godfather in the world.

"I probably would have been a great dad but I've got no regrets in relation to that." He also said he had enjoyed a signigicant role in the daughter of an ex partner.

"I watched her grow into a lovely young lady," he said. Shaun's appearance on The Chase came after the star won MasterMind in 2004, answering questions in the final on his specialist subject, FA Cup Finals.

His quizzing knowledge is extensive and Shaun has also appeared on BBC show quiz Are You an Egghead?, where he was a finalist in the first series. He's also appeared on Fifteen to One and The Weakest Link.
