ITV confirms launch date for Sophie Turner's new drama Joan in exciting update
ITV has announced the premiere date for its much-anticipated new drama, Joan.
The series, featuring actress Sophie Turner, is set to debut on ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday, September 29, at 9pm. Viewers won't have to wait long for the second episode, which will air the following day, Monday, September 30, at 9pm.
Once the first episode is broadcast, the entire series will be available to watch on ITVX. Sophie is expected to mesmerise audiences in the eagerly awaited six-part drama, where she portrays the multifaceted character of Joan Hannington, a notorious jewel thief.
The series, written by Anna Symon, unfolds against the vibrant and ambitious backdrop of 1980s London, delving into the many facets of a mother, lover, liar, and thief. Based on the real-life events of Joan Hannington, this gripping and emotional series promises to keep viewers on tenterhooks.

The cast also boasts Frank Dillaine, Kirsty J Curtis, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, and Laura Aikman. The new drama is penned by Anna Symon (The Essex Serpent), with Richard Laxton (Rain Dogs and The Thief, His Wife, and the Canoe) directing and Ruth Kenley-Letts (Strike) serving as producer, reports the Mirror.
The synopsis for the upcoming six-part drama series reveals: "When her partner Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the chance to start a new life with her six-year-old daughter, Kelly. Delving deeper into the criminal underworld, Joan meets Boisie, an enigmatic antiques dealer whose allure introduces her to new levels of danger and passion."

Sophie, famed for her roles in Game of Thrones and X-Men, expressed her enthusiasm about the project following the trailer release, saying: "I'm so excited to be bringing Joan Hannington's fascinating life story to screen in Joan.
