ITV Coronation Street Dee-Dee Bailey's real name leaves soap fans gobsmacked

Coronation Street viewers have been left floored after learning Dee-Dee Bailey’s real name.

The character, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, made her cobbles debut in 2022 as the daughter of Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw) Bailey. Since then, she has become a firm favourite with viewers.

However, Dee-Dee has had a dramatic few months recently. She learned the truth about her fiancé Joel Deering (Calum Lill) and that he was responsible for grooming and abusing young girls over the years.

This included Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) who went missing after Joel attacked her and left her for dead. Joel’s crimes were eventually exposed - and in September, he was killed off, sparking a major whodunnit on the ITV soap.

A range of Weatherfield residents became suspects, including Dee-Dee. But during a shock flashback episode last week, it was revealed that Joel’s killer was actually Lauren.

And the drama has not stopped for Dee-Dee. Despite her strong beliefs of abstaining from sex until after marriage, the soap revealed that Dee-Dee slept with Joel a few months ago.

At the time, Dee-Dee was seeking comfort following a visit to pal Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) - who later died following a battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

And in Monday’s instalment (November 18) Dee-Dee took a pregnancy test and discovered she was pregnant. A troubled Dee-Dee reflected on the situation and shared her fears with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) that she'd always see Joel when raising his child.

However, fans at home watching the soap were left gobsmacked after Dee-Dee’s real name was revealed. During a conversation with her family members, Dee-Dee was called Diana.

And it’s fair to say the name bombshell had fans floored. On X, one person said: “Oh she’s called Diana!” Someone else added: “Who the f**k is Diana?” A third chimed in: “Diana' ?!?" alongside a GIF with the caption, “Sorry, who?”
