The hit ITV soap has revealed that a deadly explosion will rock the cobbles next week with a huge blaze ripping through the Platts' house.

It has been warned that the fire will not only destroy the 'bricks and mortar' but also the lives of David and Shona's family and those close to them.

However, in a huge twist, it's proved that the fire was in fact arson and soon everyone on the cobbles is under suspicion as they try to convince the police of their innocence. But who exactly is the mysterious hooded figure we see pushing a petrol soaked rag through the letterbox of number 8?

The upcoming scenes, which air on Monday 3 February, see people trapped inside as there's no sign of Toyah Battersby or the kids. This forces Nick Tilsley, Shona and Max Turner to head into the inferno, will they all make it out alive as a huge explosion rocks the street?

As part of the devastating scenes, some of Weatherfield's residents are at the Bistro for Sarah's birthday. However, bored at the adult party, Hope, Ruby, Lily and Sam sneak into number 8 and start to live stream a seance.

It's not long until Toyah spots the live stream and seeing matches on the video, she races over to stop the youngsters and throw them out.

At the same time, Abi Webster is on the warpath having realised Toyah shopped her to social services and seeing her at number 8 heads inside to confront her. Caught up in a PTSD episode, she lashes out at Toyah knocking her unconscious before fleeing the house. Did she come back and start the fire to cover up the attack on Toyah?

Also creeping round the cobbles is a drunken Leanne Battersby, feeling lonely and angry at the world. Is she responsible for the devastating inferno?

Another suspect revealed is David, could he be to blame amid his feud with gang lord Harvey or has David gone to extreme lengths to get the money from the house insurance to repay Harvey the money he stole?

Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITV X and STV.
