ITV Coronation Street fans 'furious' with 'dodgy' character as Paul Foreman dies

Coronation Street fans were left heartbroken on Monday (September 9) as Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash, tragically passed away without his husband Billy Mayhew by his side. However, viewers were left seething at Kit Green.

Paul had been bravely battling Motor Neurone Disease for nearly a year and a half when his health suddenly deteriorated. The devastating scenes unfolded as a hungover Billy, portrayed by Daniel Brocklebank, frantically realised he had misplaced his phone from the previous night.

Billy was desperate to locate his mobile as it contained precious memories of his dearly loved husband Paul.

With Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Paul's mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) stepping in to care for Paul, Billy set off on a mission to find his lost phone.

He and an equally worn-out David (Jack P. Shepherd) returned to the hotel together, eventually finding his damaged phone and heading to a shop for a replacement, reports the Express.

Back at the flat, Paul was having difficulty breathing. When Bernie realised that Paul could pass away that day, her younger son Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, quickly left to locate Billy, as they had no way of contacting him.

Summer dialled for an ambulance, but it took 15 minutes to arrive. During the distressing wait, Paul managed to whisper Billy's name, longing to see his husband one last time.

Kit finally located Billy in a car park but they were unable to leave due to heavy traffic caused by a broken-down vehicle.

Billy was in a mad dash to the hospital on foot and had a heart-wrenching phone conversation with Paul just as he took his last breath, leaving Coronation Street viewers devastated.

Fans have been questioning why officer Kit didn't pull some strings to get Billy to the hospital sooner so he could bid farewell.

One viewer took to social media asking, "Why didn't Kit get a police mate to take Billy and put the blues n 2s on? #Corrie."

Others joined in expressing similar sentiments; one said, "Catching up on #Corrie thought Kit woulda phoned some police friends and got Billy to hospital on the blues and twos."

And another fan commented, "If I was Kit I would have sorted Billy a squad car to the hospital. #Corrie."

Not to mention the viewer who pointed out, "Could Kit not have called Craig in to get Billy to the hospital in the back of a police car? Let's face it he's a dodgy cop and done worse? ! #Corrie".

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX
