Coronation Street fans have called a previous departure a 'blunder' while star Jack P Shepherd was reminded of his earlier days on the show. The actor engaged with a post from ex-colleague Paula Lane as she marked nine years since they filmed a memorable scene together.

Paula's exit from the ITV soap as Kylie Platt in 2016 left viewers heartbroken. David Platt, played by Shepherd, had to endure a gut-wrenching farewell to Kylie after she was fatally stabbed on the street.

Kylie had just shared her family's intention to relocate to Barbados to join her sister Becky, following her deadly confrontation with ex Callum Logan who was attacking Sarah, her sister-in-law. However, her plans were tragically cut short when she saw her friend Gemma Winter being attacked by Clayton Hibbs, a former associate of Callum and son to David's current wife Shona.

In an attempt to aid Gemma, Kylie was shockingly stabbed by Clayton, who then escaped. In her recent social media update, Paula, now part of the Emmerdale cast as Ella Forster, posted a photo with Jack taken at the set in Trafford while they were shooting a promotional video for the 2015 live episode, reports the Manchester Evening News.

She captioned the image: "9 years ago filming our promo for the Corrie live ep. @jackpshepherd88." Shepherd swiftly replied in the comment section, reminiscing: "What an amazing time we had."

Soap enthusiasts have been quick to share their continued dismay at the departure of Paula from Coronation Street, which they deem to be an error by the soap. Twitter user @andrewjones10 commented: "Should NEVER have killed Kylie off. Corrie's biggest mistake."

Another fan, @megan_lowri98, expressed their emotion: "9 years ago? Wow time has flown. I cried when Kylie died. Still not over it but at least I get to see you in Emmerdale." Additional reactions poured in as @amymckissock19x applauded the actress: "You were amazing in Corrie."

The sentiment was reiterated by @urthvox who stated: "You were amazing in Corrie, would have loved to see you stay." With a touch of nostalgia, @inksterlee reminisced: "Kylie Platt was such an awesome character on Corrie. I miss her a lot."

And @hayleighholtom1 chimed in: "I miss Kylie! She was fantastic."
