ITV Coronation Street flashbacks expose Joel Deering's killer with a number of 'favourites' in the frame
Fans of Coronation Street finally learned the fate of villain Joel Deering in last night's episode, October 16. In the shocking reveal Joel's body surfaced from a river before a post mortem revealed that he had died before entering the river, ruling suicide out.
The ITV soap have confirmed what will happen in the coming weeks following the death of the solicitor. In one of the street's 'biggest ever Whodunnits' DC Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts will announce Joel's death will be treated as a murder investigation.
Joel Deering has made many enemies across Weatherfield in recent months and up until this point it had been assumed by many that the villain had taken his own life to avoid facing up to his crimes. Earlier this year it was revealed that he was Lauren Bolton's 'secret boyfriend' and was behind her disappearance and presumed murder.

The teen returned to Weatherfield over the summer and was quickly confronted by Joel and fans discovered what really happened between the pair as a result of flashbacks showing Joel had groomed Lauren, giving her money in return for sex. Over the coming weeks another series of exhilarating flashbacks will help viewers piece the puzzle together as detectives try and get to the bottom of the murder mystery.
The detective leading the case, Kit will begin his investigation by informing both Lauren Bolton played by Cait Fitton and Dee-Dee played by Channique Sterling-Brown of his murder. The two women have had their lives threatened by Joel with his constant web abuse and lies
As the mystery deepens the flashbacks will reveal just how many people are in the frame as fans will be taken back to the night of September 27 when Joel went missing A number of Coronation Street favourites will fall under suspicion.
The first to be revealed this week are Ronnie, uncle of Joel’s wronged fiance Dee-Dee, and Mason, the bad boy bully who has seemingly been turning his life around in recent weeks.
In Wednesday’s episode, October 16, viewers will watch the first climactic flashback as we return to the night when Joel disappeared and watch events unfold. As the evidence mounts, fans will see detective Kit pulled in all directions, while DS Swain played by Vicky Myers sets about her own inquiries after being made to take a step back from the case.
