Coronation Street viewers are convinced another twist is on the horizon. The long-running Joel Deering saga will reach its dramatic conclusion in Friday's episode when the villain's killer will be revealed.

Corrie has confirmed a change to its usual schedule as the big episode has not arrived on ITVX at 7am as usual this morning. The episode will instead be broadcast for the first time in its traditional slot at 8pm.

An announcement on the show's official Instagram channel said: "FYI: Tomorrow's climactic episode won't be on ITVX at 7am, so let's all grab some popcorn and watch together at 8pm on ITV1 & ITVX>"

Joel's reign of terror on the Cobbles will come to an end with a special episode broadcast on ITVX with a live reaction show featuring some members of the cast. A post on the show's Instagram account confirmed the special programme, which will be hosted by Sharon Marshall.

It said: "Killer on the Cobbles revealed tonight with live ITVX reaction show to follow! After all has been revealed, at 9pm tune into Coronation Street Live - Killer on the cobbles on ITVX to hear from all those involved in the action."

A special show of Joel dead on the train tracks accompanied the post. The villain is played by Calum Lill who took to his own social media and joked: "Sincerest apologies to the crew for the amount of times we had to reshoot this because I blinked."

Fans can't wait to see the episode as they were hoping to catch it at its earlier time. Chels said: "Is anyone else having a morning of not knowing what to do with themselves without the 7am #corrie release?

"We’ve been so spoilt with the early releases, I’m taking bad not having it today." Hannah commented: "No early #Corrie sesh this morning, today is going to DRAG."

Max Turner has handed himself into the police and confessed to Joel's crime. However, viewers are convinced there is one last twist as they believe the character, played by Paddy Bever, was not the killer.

Emma said: "I think it's Kit, Sabrina or Joel's dad. Or he's not actually dead!" Tyler posted: "Lauren's Dad did it but Max thinks it's Lauren and covering for her."

Zara commented: "Still think its Kit ...why he wanted to get on the case." Other viewers are convinced Joel is still alive as a user named Lauren posted: "Joel ain’t dead and his chillin at Kits"

Carley commented: "HE'S ALIVE!!!!!!!" Another used named Emma commented: "He’s alive and his Dad (and maybe Kit) has helped him escape"
