ITV Coronation Street 'reveals' who killed Joel Deering - and it's not who you think

Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ who has killed Joel Deering - and it’s not DS Lisa Swain. Despite rocking up the cobbles as a good guy last year, solicitor Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) true colours have come to light in the past few months.

It was revealed that he is responsible for grooming and abusing young girls over the years, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Lauren, his former fiancé Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have since vowed to bring him down and put him behind bars.

This week though, things took a seriously suspicious turn on the soap. During Monday’s episode (September 30) Dee-Dee received a voice message from Joel, appearing to hint that he was going to commit suicide. She later showed Lisa Swain, who managed to find Joel’s last whereabouts.

Along with Kit (Jacob Roberts) Lisa headed off to visit the site where they found a suicide note in his abounded car. Back at the cobbles, Lisa later relayed the information that Joel killed himself to her fellow residents.

Dee-Dee was adamant that Joel hadn’t killed himself and even visited Joel's recent location herself to try and find out the truth. She then came across another car that was covered up in the same field - and told Lisa to investigate.

Now, viewers are certain that Joel was actually murdered by a surprise resident. Sharing their thoughts online, fans reckon the soap hinted at how Joel was killed after dropping a ‘clue.’

Writing on a Corrie Facebook fan page, fans pointed out Dee-Dee’s out-of-character behaviour, including a scene at the start of the episode that saw her act strangely while staring at running water from the tap.

“What’s wrong with Dee Dee,” said one person, as someone else added: “I think dee dee has done something to Joel.” A third penned: “She was mesmerised by the water running from the kitchen tap!”

Another person chimed in and hinted at Joel’s potential cause of death and mused: “drowned him??” A fifth said: “That would be a twist!”

What’s more, other fans have clocked Lisa Swain’s suspicious behaviour, with one person sharing a theory on why she might have murdered Joel.

On X, the fan wrote how Lisa could have killed Joel after an altercation with her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin). They wrote: “Joel has either come across or threatened Betsy the night before, swains found him and they’ve had an altercation and it’s ended in Joel’s death and Kit either was involved or saw it so now is helping cover it up.”
