Coronation Street spoilers have revealed a dramatic twist that may surprise fans.

This week's episodes have continued to explore the mystery surrounding Lauren Bolton's disappearance. Corrie is airing each night this week as it is expected the true reason behind why the character, played by Cait Fitton, has vanished may be unveiled.

According to our sister site, Mirror Online, some fans are convinced Joel Deering is behind Lauren's disappearance. However, those fans are in for a surprise as spoilers for next week have shown he will be involved in an entirely separate story.

The character's parents are set set too arrive in the Cobbles and Joel books a meal for them all so they can get to know his partner Dee-Dee Bailey. Dee-Dee is nervous about the meeting, and Joel warns her they can be a bit stand-offish.

He does his best to reassure her and will insist they will love her though, trying to reassure her. But things get awkward and Dee-Dee finds herself up against it, as Joel's parents make their disapproval of her clear.

Things only get worse though when Dee-Dee's father Ed pops by during the meal to introduce himself to Joel's family. Joel's mum leaves him and Dee-Dee upset though, as she shows her disdain for her son's partner and her family.

She makes a patronising remark at Ed, leading to Dee-Dee having enough and storming out of the restaurant. Joel's devastated, and furious with his parents for their treatment of the woman he loves.

Joel wastes no time in apologising for his mum's behaviour, but he has a surprise up his sleeve too. With Dee-Dee upset over the meal, she is in disbelief when Joel suddenly drops to one knee and proposes.

But will she say yes, and what will his parents say? It comes as viewers finally find out this week what happened to missing teen Lauren on the night she vanished.

Fans are convinced Joel could be the culprit and he might have killed Lauren. However, the truth will be revealed on Thursday, as we are taken back to the night in February when Lauren went missing.
