A Coronation Street star has appeared to let slip a huge detail about Gail Platt’s upcoming exit storyline. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Gail actress Helen Worth is leaving the soap after 50 years. Soap bosses have promised viewers her departing storyline will be an emotional one.

It was also revealed the legend’s shock exit comes as part of a "major" new storyline for the Platt family. Original plans were due to see ex-husband Martin Platt (Sean Wilson) make a return. However, despite already recording his scenes on set, he left the soap for ‘personal reasons.’

But recently, a Corrie actor appeared to ‘leak’ a major clue about how Gail is set to leave - and it will certainly ruffle a few feathers. This week, Dee-Dee Bailey actress Channique Sterling-Brown shared a behind-the-scenes snap from set to her Instagram Story.

Shooting late at night, Channique took a photo of the famous cobbles. She captioned the photo: “Nothing like a night shoot to make you regret dancing until 2am,” along with a crying emoji. However, in the snap, Gail’s house, No. 8 Coronation Street, had an estate agent sign in the front garden, confirming that the beloved residence is for sale.

The current residents of the home include Gail's son David Platt, wife Shona and children Max and Lily. As for Gail's other kids, Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, they live in their own flats with their own children.

Revealing her departure from the soap in June, Helen said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”

Elsewhere fans were recently fearing that the previous major change could mean Gail’s exit storyline will be rewritten to include a heartbreaking twist. Sharing their thoughts online, viewers claimed they have ‘worked out’ how Gail will now leave - fearing she could be killed off.

One person said: “Dear #Corrie producers…. whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt." (sic) A second wrote: “This scares me she’s decided she wants Gail to be killed off instead. I’m actually scared."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
