ITV Coronation Street star 'leaks' Gail Platt's exit storyline as heartbreaking twist emerges

A Coronation Street actor appears to have accidentally divulged a significant plot regarding Gail Platt's impending departure from the show. Earlier in the year, it was announced that Helen Worth, who portrays Gail, is set to leave the series after an incredible half-century run.

The soap's producers have assured fans that her send-off narrative will tug at heartstrings. Additionally, it has come to light that Worth's unexpected departure is associated with a "major" new storyline unfolding for the Platt family. Original plans incorporated the comeback of Gail's former spouse, Martin Platt, played by Sean Wilson.

Despite filming his scenes, Wilson had to exit the show due to 'personal reasons'. However, more recent developments have seen Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey on Corrie, seemingly 'spilled the beans' about Gail's of exit - and it's expected to cause quite a stir. On her Instagram Story earlier this week, she uploaded a photo captured while shooting at night on the iconic set, reports the Liverpool Echo.

In the photograph, which shows the Weatherfield street under night-time lights, Channique added the caption: "Nothing like a night shoot to make you regret dancing until 2am," accompanied with a tearful emoji. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot that Gails house, Number 8, sported an estate agent's sign in its front garden, hinting that the well-known property could be up for sale.

Currently residing at the house are Gail's son David Platt, his wife Shona, and their children Max and Lily, while her other offspring, Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, live separately with their families.

Helen made it known that June would mark her departure from the iconic show, sharing: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. The past 50 years have flown by and I don't think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet."

On another note, EastEnders enthusiasts are bracing themselves for a potential overhaul in Gail's final storyline, stirring online speculation that a tragic end might be in store for her character. A worried fan posted: "Dear #Corrie producers.... whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt."

Another expressed their apprehension, commenting: "This scares me she's decided she wants Gail to be killed off instead. I'm actually scared."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
