ITV Coronation Street star reveals he's become a 'young dad' as he confirms new arrival

A Coronation Street star has told fans he's now a "young dad" in huge news away from the soap. Luca Toolan, who plays the notorious bully Mason Radcliffe, made his debut in 2023 and quickly became a central figure in the drama of the cobbles.

The audience was left shocked as they watched him torment Maria Connor's (Samia Longchambon) young son, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall), to the point where Liam contemplated ending his life. However, in April, Mason was sent to a Young Offenders centre for threatening Liam with a knife. During the court trial, Dylan courageously confronted Mason, testifying against him.

But by July, Mason was back on the cobbles, having been released from the Young Offenders centre. His return caused quite a stir - leaving Liam and Dylan feeling unsettled.

In the meantime, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) has shown sympathy for Mason, securing him a job at his restaurant and insisting that Mason is attempting to change his ways, reports the Mirror.

Mason has also grown close to troublemaker Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). Off the cobbles, actor Luca recently shared some significant news with his fans.

He revealed on his TikTok account that he has welcomed a new addition to his family. Alongside an image of him in a university lecture hall, Luca penned: "Finding out I was going to be a young dad was scary."

Accompanying the second photo, which showed him outdoors with a dog snuggled in a harness, he added: "But being a dog dad wasn't scary it's amazing."

Luca then shared a snap of the cute pup, urging his followers with the caption: "Give me name some suggestions," and his fans didnt waste any time jumping into the conversation.

With a flurry of comments arriving, one fan expressed: "I got confused for a second there." Another remarked, adding to the mix: "No because before I swiped I was so confused I thought I missed a load of chapters."

Another admirer pronounced boldly: "You know how to get peoples attention with that first caption." While yet another admitted: "Not me actually thinking you're becoming a dad."
