Vicky Myers has quickly established herself as a fan favourite on Coronation Street.

She first played DS Lisa Swain on the Cobbles in 2021 and has recently been upgraded to a full time cast-member. The fictional police officer has been at the centre of the show's major storyline with the disappearance of Lauren Bolton.

The storyline is set to reach its climax next week when viewers will finally learn about what happened on the fateful night the character, played by Cait Fitton, vanished. Although the current storyline surrounding Lauren may soon come to an end, it appears DS Swain is here to stay for the foreseeable.

Vicky said: "We're only just scratching the surface with Swain!" She teased romance may soon be on the cards as the actor added: "We know that she has a daughter, a teenage daughter. Also, I’m not entirely sure if everybody knows this, she’s gay. I think for Swain, she perhaps has seen somebody that has caught her eye but at the moment she's far too busy on focusing on this investigation, career and being a single mum."

Away from the screen, the 48-year-old keeps followers updated with her life on Instagram and is the proud mum to her daughter named Meghan. Vicky thrilled her co-stars at the end of last year when she sent a heartfelt message to commemorate her daughter's 27 birthday.

She said: "Little Miss Myers/Mrs. Henderson. Oh how I love you." Todd Boyce said: "Oh maan - beauuutiful"

Sally Carman added: "Happy, happy birthday Meg" Friend Chloe said: "I can’t cope that your daughter is 27."

Christopher added: "How can that be your daughter?? 27??? Impossible."

In an interview with our sister site, Mirror Online, Vicky opened on the breakdown of her marriage. She said it was a difficult period in her life as she was also rocked by the news she had cancer.

She received her diagnosis by chance when she was taking her nephew for a medical check up. She said: "As we turned to leave, the doctor said, ‘Can I have a look at that mark on your leg?’ Within five days I was in hospital.

"I was wearing three-quarter length combat trousers that day. You can roll them up into shorts, which I did in the car just before the appointment, because it was a really hot June day. It’s quite incredible to think that if it had been a miserable day the doctor would never have seen the little dark mark on my calf. I definitely had an angel watching over me that day.”

Doctors discovered it was skin cancer and her ex helped her look after Meghan as she recovered from reconstructive surgery. Vicky fell out of love with acting after her treatment and took a job at a casting agency.

However, she knew she always wanted to return to the profession and is proud she has worked her way to become an important member of the Corrie cast. She said: "I don’t know if it’s my previous medical history, but I am so proud to be here and just to be living each day to the full. When my husband and I split up, I was quite down, bitter and vengeful, and when I was told I had [cancer], I remember thinking, ‘If this is it for me, I’ve missed out on all this time with my daughter and I haven’t really been the best person that I wanted to be.’

"The diagnosis re-centred me and made me focus on what is really important and what makes me happy. Now, every time I go into work and see the Coronation Street sign, it’s quite overwhelming.”
