ITV Coronation Street's Cassie's harrowing plan for Ken 'exposed' - and fans feel uneasy

Coronation Street enthusiasts reckon they've sussed out Cassie Plummer's (Claire Sweeney) next move for Ken Barlow (William Roache), and it doesn't bode well. Cassie, Tyrone Dobbs' (Alan Halsall) estranged mum, first made her appearance on the cobbles in 2023, quickly becoming a fan favourite and stirring up some drama.

Recently, after Ken suffered a nasty fall requiring a carer, the Barlows found professional care too costly and turned to Cassie, despite her lack of formal qualifications. She did mention having cared for an ex-boyfriend previously.

Since then, Cassie has been looking after Ken, with romantic tension brewing between her and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), Ken's son-in-law.

In Tuesday's episode (August 14), Cassie and Steve's playful feud escalated when she broke Steve's favourite mug. An angry Steve confronted Cassie, who threatened to quit her job caring for Ken, reports the Express.

However, later, while visiting Ken, Cassie overheard him on the phone discussing his £50,000 investment win. Seemingly backtracking on her decision to quit, Cassie offered to make Ken a cuppa, smirking to herself in the kitchen.

Now, fans are convinced Cassie is hatching a devious plot against Ken. On Twitter, a viewer commented: "Oh Cassie will be all over Ken now she's heard all that." (sic)

Another posted: "Please gosh, don't tell me Cassie is gonna swindle Ken, cause we do not need this! ! Get out while you can Ken." (sic)

A third tweeted their disappointment: "Just when I was starting to like Cassie, she's going to bleed Ken dry." While another speculated: "Uh oh cue Cassie doing god knows what to get her hands on Ken's 50k."
