ITV Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver says 'what a whirl' as she shares career update away from Cobbles
Sue Cleaver was blown away as she shared a career update away from Coronation Street. The soap star is renowned for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street.
She joined the cast in 2000 and has a been a favourite on Weatherfield ever since. It is set to be busy time on the Cobbles for the rest of the year as Eileen will bid farewell to long-time rival, Gail Platt, when Helen Worth bows out of the show after 50 years.
It has been an equally busy time away from the Cobbles for Sue as she released her first book this year. A Work In Progress was published this year and Sue said it will tackle issues of overthinking and losing faith in yourself.
The 60-year-old took to Instagram to thank people for their support of the book as she said: "What a whirl… I’ve been blown away by the love I’ve felt from everyone for my first ever book #aworkinprogress

"Thank you to everyone that has bought the book, it’s truly appreciated. I loved writing it and I love talking about it.
Thanks to @bloomsburypublishing @ @ymuliterary for ALL the support."
Speaking about the book ahead ahead of publication, Sue said: "It's about my journey about my struggles with all of those things, especially overthinking and worrying and panicking about things. I just wanted to get on here and share it with you."
Sue has previously trained to be a psychotherapist and the book will tap into her training as the post captioned: "Are you a chronic overthinker, do you have anxiety, or suffer from self-doubt? Sue Cleaver has been there, done that, and is still learning from it. In A Work in Progress, Cleaver shares her experiences and life stories, reflects on how they made her feel and what she learned, and offers advice and wisdom for others who find themselves in similar situations.
"Training as a therapist was only the start of her journey of self-discovery and at sixty she feels more empowered to live life to the full than ever before. I’ve spent a lifetime feeling that I’m not enough or I don’t belong. It’s only now that I’m beginning to find my voice. I’m also aware that there is plenty for me to learn. I’m still a work in progress, but for the first time in my life, I have reached a point where I’m no longer hiding, and that feels good.’
Sue has previously revealed she was training to become a psychotherapist in an interview with Soaplife as she said: "I am qualified to take clients and have another 18 months to go before I can finish my four-year course in Analysis Psychotherapy at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy. It's hard work fitting it in with Corrie, but I love it."
