ITV drama Hatton Garden receives mixed response after "slow" premiere
Hatton Garden premiered on ITV tonight (May 20) and received mixed reactions from viewers.
The four-episode drama is based on the true story of the 2015 cash and jewellery heist in London’s diamond district, Hatton Garden, which was carried out by a group of OAP robbers.
Over a Easter bank holiday weekend, the unlikely team of thieves broke into the vault of the Hatton Garden Safety Deposit Company, resulting in what ended up being the biggest burglary in the history of Britain, totalling around £200 million.

Timothy Spall leads the all-star cast, which also includes Kenneth Cranham and Brian F O'Byrne. The drama was written by Philomena writer Jeff Pope and Terry Winsor.
The show has been a long time coming, however, having been postponed by ITV in 2017. It was then rescheduled for 2018, before being postponed yet again.
But has it been worth the wait? Well, viewers aren't entirely sure just yet, with many describing it as "slow" and wondering how the drama will be stretched out over four episodes.
This isn't very exciting so far is it...? Hoping it'll get better but I struggle to understand how they're going to drag this out for 4 episodes #hattongarden

#HattonGarden on all week but feel a like whole things being covered in 1st episode! Brilliant cast to be fair & more interesting now I've been there so can literally picture the scene! Not endorsing theft, it's wrong but these ol' boys were good! 💰🔦

Can't imagine that we will see as many viewers for the second episode as the first. I'll stick with it, but that was slow at the best of times. #HattonGarden

Is this really drama or just a lot of drilling and old men arguing?- Elaine Clark (@cheapaccounting) May 20, 2019
Hatton Garden on ITV. They’ve taken no time to develop any characters. It’s just a few nasty old men shouting and swearing at each other. I’ve not been able to develop any empathy for them (yet?). #HattonGarden #ITV

#HattonGarden can't understand why this is 4 hours long, it really is going to be a slow drama

This is a bit slow, but it does stretch over 4 nights so a slow burner, I guess. #HattonGarden
