ITV's new police drama Viewpoint recently temporarily suspended filming after a person on set tested positive for COVID-19, a spokesperson for the show has confirmed.

However, shooting has already resumed again due to the extensive health and safety protocols which are in place on set and it has been confirmed that the cast and crew have returned to filming.

"We can confirm there was a positive test for coronavirus on Viewpoint which resulted in a very short suspension of filming," a spokesperson told Digital Spy. "There are specific protocols in place for this eventuality which have been implemented and, as a result, filming has recommenced."

It has not been confirmed whether the person who tested positive was a cast or crew member.

Five-part series Viewpoint is based on an idea by Killing Eve and Fleabag director Harry Bradbeer and is co-created and written by Safe House's Ed Whitmore.

The show will star Doctor Who, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Bulletproof actor Noel Clarke as surveillance detective DC Martin King, who sets up an observation post in the home of single mum and secret voyeur Zoe Sterling (Black Mirror's Alexandra Roach).

He uses this position to watch over the home of missing local primary school teacher Gemma Hillman (Amy Wren), where her boyfriend and prime suspect in her disappearance, Greg Sullivan (I May Destroy You's Fehinti Balogun), also lives.

Former Coronation Street actors Catherine Tyldesley and Ian Puleston-Davies, as well as ex-Hollyoaks and The Fall star Bronagh Waugh, also feature in currently unknown roles.

ITV has described the series as "a contemporary, character-driven mystery with a seductively intimate feel".

Viewpoint isn't the first show to have to pause production due to the coronavirus pandemic, as Coronation Street also recently suspended filming for a short time after a positive test on set.
