ITV Emmerdale fans 'work out' Tom King return twist as Cain Dingle 'framed for murder'

Emmerdale fans are certain Tom King is plotting to set Cain Dingle up for murder in a surprising new twist in the storyline.

Cain has been reeling from the shock of his younger sister Belle Dingle's (portrayed by Eden Taylor-Draper) mistreatment at the wicked hands of Tom (played by James Chase). Belle recently opened up to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), leading to a high-strung exchange as Charity shared the grim details with Cain.

Though enraged and primed for a confrontation, Cain heeded Belle's plea relayed by Charity to refrain from facing Tom. Amid processing Belle's horrendous experiences, there's more on Cain's plate.

That includes his spouse Moira Dingle's (Natalie J Robb) puzzling antics of late. The much-loved character has exhibited unusual behaviour for some time, escalating to the startling disclosure that Moira had "kissed" Cain's offspring Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

In recent episodes, Moira tried to plant a kiss on her stepson, who robustly declined and chastised her. However, it turned out Moira suffered a seizure and wasn't intentionally making a pass, reports Leeds Live.

Witness to the "kiss", Cain's sibling Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) imparted the news to an infuriated Cain. Emmerdale aficionados will remember Moira and Nate's historic affair which endangered her union with Cain.

Having heard about the "kiss", Cain brutally denounced Nate in explosive scenes, disowning his child in spite of Nate's sincere protestations of innocence.

Nate's fate was left hanging in the balance after a brutal attack, leading to his departure from the village. Meanwhile, Tom has mysteriously disappeared, sparking fan theories that he may have murdered Nate with the intention of framing Cain.

Fans have been speculating on social media, with one stating: "Maybe Tom has killed Nate knowing that cain will get done for it."

Another concurred: "Great theory." A third added: "Nate's body is going to turn up in the barn or near the barn ....He just disappeared, which is strange."

Despite the speculation, actor Jurrell Carter, who has portrayed Nate for five years, revealed that his character has secured a new job in Shetland. Nonetheless, as viewers are well aware, anything is possible in the world of soap operas.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
