Emmerdale enthusiasts have spotted a glaring error in the dramatic barn fire scenes on the show.

Viewers were gripped by intense scenes that unfolded this week when Moira Dingle's (Natalie J. Robb) barn caught on fire, threatening the lives of several key characters.

Chaos ensued after Moira's erratic behaviour led her to inadvertently start the blazewith Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) unfortunately inside. The fire ignited after Moira, hallucinating Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney), fired a shot that caused a spark, lighting up tractor fuel that was spilled across the barn floor.

Ruby, trying to seize the gun from Moira, ended up unconscious, while a disoriented Moira finally grasped the severity of the situation, attempting in vain to rouse Ruby amidst the flames.

The smoke alerted Moira's brother Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb), out in a nearby field, who instantly leapt onto his quad bike and headed to the site, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Upon arriving, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) also appeared, shocked at the unfolding emergency. Unable to access the barn, John instructed Mack to alert the authorities and their family, before trying to force the door open himself to save Moira and Ruby.

Yet eagle-eyed viewers noted a missed opportunity: Mackenzie might have used his quad to break through the barn door. On X, which had formerly been known as Twitter, one individual remarked: "Drive the quad through the wooden door, you idiots."

Another viewer suggested: "Would it not be quicker to drive something at the gates? " A third posted: "Why don't they ram the barn door with the van or quad."

Someone else wrote: "Why don't they use the quad bike? ? Drive at it?" As the episode drew to a close, Cain entered the barn to find Moira alive, but they soon found themselves trapped by the fire as they attempted to escape. Moments later, a massive explosion sent them all tumbling to the ground.

However, just as Moira and Cain were trying to reach safety, the barn erupted in another explosion, leaving their fate uncertain and hinting that they may have perished.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
