ITV Emmerdale's Moira Dingle star reveals heartbreaking Cain twist ahead of 'bumpy ride'

Emmerdale's Moira Dingle star Natalie J Robb has teased lots of twists and turns on the ITV soap.

Earlier this year, Moira received a diagnosis of a meningioma brain tumour following weeks of erratic behaviour, which included personality changes, violent episodes, confusion, memory lapses, and seizures.

Despite the tumour being non-cancerous, the news left Moira grappling with fears about her future, the prospect of surgery, and other potential treatments.

On Wednesday night, a special episode will follow Moira’s brain surgery and how on-screen husband Cain Dingle's, played by Jeff Hordley, day goes as he struggles with his emotions.

Talking about the scenes on Wednesday's This Morning, Moira star Natalie said: "It's two journeys, first of all you're on Moira's journey and she's the one going through with it physically and emotionally obviously.

"She goes through to the surgery, obviously I don't want to let too much away to ruin it for people who haven't seen it yet. So you go through her side of the journey and her terrifying experience.

"Then the second part of the episode is Cain's, how he's dealing with it. He's in a really vulnerable situation as obviously he's just lost, Zak, his dad so he's actually I think the closest he's ever been to depression and now he's facing maybe losing his wife.

"He just doesn't really know what to do and as we all know Cain he never really handles things well when he is out of control and he can't control it himself. We'll see. There's going to be lots of twists and turns, it's going to be a bumpy ride I think!"

To ensure accuracy and sensitivity, Emmerdale has collaborated with Brains Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity, who are providing ongoing support to the production team to ensure Moira's journey is portrayed realistically and authentically.

Emmerdale producer, Sophie Roper, commented on the storyline earlier this year: "Moira's diagnosis comes as a huge shock to both her and her family and Moira faces an emotional and challenging time ahead.

"The research and support we've received throughout this storyline has allowed us to depict the realities of the condition and though at times it may be distressing to see the symptoms Moira's experiencing, we're keen to explore the hope and resilience Moira finds as she comes to terms with her diagnosis."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
