Ant and Dec are currently out in Australia hosting I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, and while the pair definitely enjoy the annual presenting gig, it comes with its challenges.

The pair, who spend around a month in Australia for the show each year, host I'm A Celebrity live each day. As the programme is broadcast in the evening in the UK, Ant and Dec host the show in the early hours of the morning in Australia.

They've revealed they usually get up at 2am each morning, Australian time, to prepare for the show going live at around 7am. This means they head to bed at around 6.30pm each evening, in a bid to get enough rest.

However, on Monday evening the presenters were awoken just three hours into their sleep due to an alarm going off nearby. Ant and Dec opened up about the situation in a live video on Instagram, where they discussed I'm A Celebrity with fans.

The duo, who stay in a beachfront £1,000-a-night penthouse while in Australia, admitted that the alarm going off left them both exhausted for the live show, which airs each evening at 9pm in the UK.

One viewer asked on their Instagram Live: “Are you both tired?” to which Dec replied: "We are and I shall tell why. There was a fire alarm last night at 9.30pm. I know that might sound early for you, doesn’t it, but we go to bed at 6.30pm.”

Ant added: “You are three hours in and those first three hours are your deep sleep, that’s your really good sleep.” Dec then joked: “You can tell he missed out on his beauty sleep last night…look at the state of him today."

Dec is staying with wife Ali Astall and their children, Isla, six, and Jack, two, in New South Wales. Meanwhile, Ant is joined by wife Anne-Marie and their baby son Wilder, who was born back in May.

Dec has previously spoken about his and Ant's night routine ahead of their gruelling 2am wake-up. He said they usually film the Bushtucker trial after the show ends before getting home at 1pm.

He said: “We have a couple of hours to chill and then have dinner about 4.30pm and then bed is like six or 6.30pm." Ant added: "And then our alarms go off at two or 2.30am every day. And you can never fall asleep at half six. It is always after seven."

Dec agreed and said: "I don't fall asleep no, I go to bed and put on a podcast, a Newcastle United podcast, Pod On The Tyne or the True Faith podcast, I listen to that."

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
