ITV Joan full cast list, how many episodes and release date and time
The new ITV series, Joan, is set to take over our screens come this weekend. The six-part drama sees Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner take up the role of a devoted mother, Joan Hannington.
Trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary, Joan seizes the opportunity to create a new life for herself and her daughter, Kelly, when Gary goes on the run.
Adopting different identities and making new acquaintances along the way, Joan becomes a masterful jewel thief - a journey that is desired by her desire to create a secure home for her family.
The drama, written by Anna Symon, is set against the backdrop of a vibrant and aspirational 1980s London. It is inspired by the real Joan Hannington and certain events from her life and was filmed in and around Kent and Birmingham.

The series, directed by Richard Laxton and produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts, also stars Harry Potter’s Frank Dilliane, Kirsty J Curtis, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr and Laura Aikman.
Leading actress Sophie Turner said: “I’m so excited to be bringing Joan Hannington’s fascinating life story to screen in Joan. She is one of the most notorious figures in the criminal underworld of London, earning her the nickname ‘The Godmother’.
“A woman who goes between her thriving and daring career as a jewel thief, all whilst trying to get her daughter back from social services, we see a mother in despair swept up in the exhilarating world of crime.”
Born in London in 1957, today Joan lives beside the sea with her dogs but, back in the ‘80s, she led a glamorous life of crime for over a decade.
