ITV Journalist Tried To Save 'Suicidal' Man

ITV News' political editor Tom Bradby has spoken of his "shock and anger" after an elderly man apparently committed suicide as police and customs officials stood by and watched.

The 48-year-old father-of-three was on holiday with his family in Greece when he said he saw a man drive his car off a harbour wall.

In a series of tweets, he said: "Just watched an elderly man commit suicide in Greece by driving his car off the harbour wall in Rafina.

"Dived in, tried to help, couldn't get him out. Completely shocking."

He went on to claim: "Of the 9 or 10 customs officials and police on the quay only 1 went in to try and get him out as the car sank. The rest watched. Jesus.

"Am shaking with shock and anger. So much for the Greek holiday trade being business as usual."

Bradby, who presents political series The Agenda, won acclaim when he gained the first official interview with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after they got engaged.
