ITV Lorraine guests asks 'are we on air?' as they struggle live on set

Lorraine Kelly had a bit of a situation on her hands as Monday's (January 27) as the show got underway. The host was joined on the programme by The Masked Singer UK star Mel Giedroyc, who was unveiled at the weekend.

Mel had been hiding her true identity for the past few weeks, living in the disguise as her character Teeth on the ITV guessing-game show, throwing everyone off with her clever clues.

The former Great British Bake Off star took to the stage at the weekend with a rendition of Neighbours that saw her end up in the final two and then exit the show.

Now Mel was on Lorraine in full costume to speak about her experience on the programme after being unmasked - but her outfit wasn't exactly fitting for the occasion.

She turned up wearing the massive teeth garment and the pair were unable to close the door as Mel asked the host: "Are we on air Lorraine?"

Lorraine confirmed: "We're on," as the TV star attempted to take to her seat with the Scottish presenter telling her: "I don't know if we can sit down to be fair. What do you think?"

Looking at the size of Mel's outfit and the chair, the presenter urged: "It's not going to work is it?" The Great British Bake Off host ignored Lorraine's suggestion and carried on trying to situate herself in the seat.

"Oh no don't. Oh jeez. Oh no," said Lorraine as Mel was really struggling to perch in the grey armchair on-set with her head disappearing completely within the costume.

Becoming concerned, Lorraine stepped in: "Ohh no, now I can't see you, you've disappeared. I would get back up and do that," as they decided to carry on with the interview while standing for the full duration.

Last year, Lorraine also decided to participate in the guessing-game show as she took to the stage to belt out some hits dressed as Owl. Knowing all too well what it's like to be on the programme and how hard it is to keep quiet, she was keen to know who Mel had spoken to about her shock appearance.

"I told my husband, I didn't tell the girls and they are a bit frosty at the minute. They are livid actually," confessed Mel.

Lorraine agreed: "I told my husband too. I had to tell Steve otherwise, he would have wondered where I was going and I had to practise my songs in the shower."

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV, from 9am.
