Love Island is set to grace our screens once again on Monday (June 3), and one of the fresh faces entering the villa has an unexpected connection to the outspoken broadcaster Piers Morgan. Surrey-based recruitment manager Munveer Jabbal counts Piers's son Spencer among his close friends.

In a chat with press, including OK!., Munveer opened up about his friendship with Spencer, revealing that he hadn't informed him about his upcoming stint in the villa. He shared: "The only time I speak to him [Spencer] is about Arsenal and that's it."

"We don't talk about anything romantic, we don't talk about his Dad," he added. "We don't talk about anything other than who should be starting for Arsenal... And that's as far as the conversation goes."

Asked if Spencer would be surprised to see him on the show, Munveer continued: "I think everyone will be surprised to see me on the show. My immediate network will be like 'oh fancy seeing you in there.'

"I kept it low-key and confidential, the only people who knew were my mum and my dad so I'm sure it'll come as a surprise to a lot of my close friends for sure."

Despite Piers's well-known disdain for the dating show, it appears his son will likely be tuning in to cheer on his mate Munveer. Munveer isn't the only new islander with celebrity connections, footballer Ronnie Vint, a close friend of former Love Island star Olivia Attwood and her husband Bradley Dack, is also joining the villa. Ronnie even played the role of best man at their wedding, and boasts a number of TOWIE stars among his followers.

Munveer, who hasn't even set foot in the villa yet, has already stirred up a debate among fans. They believe that the show's producers have not done him justice with the official promo picture they released.

Comparing the Love Island snap to Munveer's own Instagram photos, some fans expressed that he looked better in his personal shots. One fan commented: "These photos never do anyone justice", while former X Factor star Jake Quickeden chimed in with: "Bro it's like the photographer pics the worst pic on purpose."

While some were venting their frustration over the photography, others were distracted by a sense of familiarity in Munveer. Many are convinced he bears a striking resemblance to both last season's winner Sammy Root and co-star Mehdi Edno.

"Its giving medhi/sammy," one fan wrote, while another echoed: "He's giving me Medhi and Sammy vibes for sure," with numerous other followers in agreement.
