ITV's Masked Singer host Joel Dommet apologised to viewers mid-show after an embarrassing fumble on stage. Moments before Wolf was set to perform, Joel said he was becoming "very self conscious".

The reality singing competition returned tonight (January 11) with the celebrities going undercover to belt out their favourite tracks. Every week viewers and the panel of judges are issued subtle clues that can lead to the singer's unmasking.

The Masked Singer returned from an ad break with Joel appearing to float on a blow-up bed thanks to the LED screens on the floor. He said: "Welcome backed to The Masked Singer summer special. This is the life - bobbing along in my clue lagoon."

Cameras panned to judge Davina McCall who was dressed as a lifeguard. The television personality blew her whistle signalling Joel had to get out of the water and there was "no running in the pool."

Joel began to emerge from the water but ungracefully showed his rear to the camera. He laughed and said: "Damn it. I'm going to swim out. I'm sorry to anyone who saw that."

Joel's shorts have been a talking point throughout tonight's programme. In reference to his attire, he said: "They're definitely shorter now Jonathan. Suddenly I'm becoming very self conscious." Joel quickly welcomed Wolf as the next performer before moving on with his hosting duties.
