Despite Ruth Langsford's composed handling of her split from Eamonn Holmes, insiders suggest she has retaliated following his public display of affection with new love interest Katie Alexander.

The couple were spotted last weekend on a lavish getaway in Barcelona, Spain, where Eamonn Holmes, 64, was seen with his arms wrapped around Katie, 42. They were later seen arriving at his new bachelor flat in Kingston, South West London, following Eamonn's surprising exit from the home he once shared with Ruth in Weybridge, Surrey.

In a previous interview, Eamonn voiced his wish to remain friends with his former partner, but it seems Ruth has decidedly moved on, ruling out any chance of a reunion. Just days prior to his holiday with Katie, Eamonn made an unexpected visit to his old residence to collect some vacation attire for their cruise.

Seizing the opportunity, Ruth playfully removed the £2,000 stairlift, which had been installed to assist him in navigating the curved staircase to his old bedroom due to his severe back condition.

A source disclosed to The Daily Mail, "Ruth has remained quiet and classy. Even when people bring up what Eamonn has been up to, she stays silent and just smiles. She thinks that is the best way. She has had a lot of support from her friends. But one thing she would see every day was the stairlift which Eamonn installed. Ruth doesn't need it. She's super-fit and healthy but she knew Eamonn probably would struggle when he had to go the house to get some bits he needed for the holiday. The bedrooms are upstairs and he needed to get to them.", reports the Mirror.

Continuing on they said, "It might seem petty but Ruth's friends think it is absolutely hilarious as they think he has really taken her for a ride. You can imagine how furious Eamonn was. He was probably expecting to be able to use the stairlift to get his stuff and quickly get out again and pack for his holiday."

In related news, Coleen Nolan has lauded her Loose Women colleague for showing great "dignity and pride" post-separation from her partner. The 'This Morning' pair, who are both 64, went public with their separation in May after a marriage spanning 14 years, and now Coleen reveals the strength her friend has shown during the process.

Speaking to Woman magazine, Coleen shared her admiration for her friend's composure, saying: "I will say from a friend's point of view is, I've never met anyone that has handled something with so much dignity and pride. She's just such a lady, more of a lady then I'll ever be, I would've spilled my guts right now."

Despite having gone through two divorces herself, Coleen revealed that her attempts at giving Ruth advice were in vain as she chose her own way, adding: "I've given her advice but she doesn't listen to me, I'm going, 'How can you not say anything? ' But I don't need to give her advice."
