ITVBe has confirmed that Drama Queens, the reality show offering a peek into the lives of beloved soap stars, will not be returning for a second series. The programme, which premiered on April 10, 2024, showcased familiar faces from Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, including Lucy Fallon, Roxy Shahidi, Amy Walsh and Jorgie Porter.

Despite the celebrities sharing their personal struggles on camera, ITV chiefs have announced that the Lime Pictures-produced show will not get a second run. An insider told The Sun on Saturday, September 7, that Drama Queens had become "quite difficult and expensive to make", especially as the soap stars had to juggle filming with their hectic schedules.

"Luring the talent to open up about their personal lives was costly and they all had busy filming schedules for their various acting jobs and family commitments," the source explained. "Plus the soap fanbase didn't translate to automatic audiences as reality viewers tend to be quite a younger demographic. In the end producers decided it was best to leave it as a one-off series and focus on new projects and trial new formats."

A spokesperson for the broadcaster reinforced their stance, stating: "There are no current plans for a second series of Drama Queens but the first series is available for viewers to enjoy on ITVX, and we wouldn't rule out revisiting the show in the future."

This year, the show Drama Queens has provided some memorable moments. Notably, an intense argument was caught on camera involving Jorgie Porter and her partner Oliver Piotrowski, centring on disputes over their infant son's upbringing, as reported by the Mirror, reports The Mirror.

Furthermore, during her time on the show, Jamelia disclosed her reasons for leaving Hollyoaks, despite not being one of the 20 characters cut in a recent drastic reduction. She expressed on the programme: "Hollyoaks was like a plaster on a very deep wound."

Adding to this, she acknowledged the personal struggles she was yet to resolve: "But, I know I am not healed. I haven't done the healing work that needs to be done. I can't do it while focusing on such a demanding job on top of the most demanding job of being four peoples' mum."

Jamelia also affirmed her affection for the soap: "I have loved my time at Hollyoaks. Every single second. But I know I have been blocking away something and I haven't dealt with a lot of things and I have to take that time."
