ITV Out There star Kate Micucci's 'really weird' health battle that was complete 'surprise'
Actress Kate Micucci has faced a tough health battle with lung cancer - despite never having smoked a cigarette in her life. The star, best known for her role as Lucy on the Big Bang Theory, is back on our screens tonight in a new ITV drama.
She will play Jay in the new series Out There, starring Martin Clunes and Mark Lewis Jones, about a farmer who is confronted with dark forces in his rural community, leading to an investigation into a county lines drug cartel. Kate, 44, previously revealed she was cancer-free after undergoing surgery for lung cancer in 2023.
The good news came a week after she shared her 'really weird' diagnosis with fans on social media. At the time, she posted: "They caught it really early.

"It's really weird, because I've never smoked a cigarette in my life so, you know, it was a surprise." She added that the "greatest news" is that the cancer was removed after its early detection, adding it's "all good".
Revealing she was cancer free, she said oin a video posted on TikTok: "I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free. he surgery last week went great, all the reports came back that it worked, I don't need to do any other treatment."
She said she was "very lucky" and thanked everyone for their well wishes and her doctors and nurses for their care. "Big thank yous to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me and thanks to figuring it out early because I am very, very, very lucky and I know that and I am just really grateful that things worked out as they did," she added.
Kate married musician and recording producer Jake Sinclair in 2018. The couple share a five-year-old son.
As well as the Big Bang Theory, Kate has had many other roles, including playing Stephanie Gooch in Scrubs, Ally in 'Til Death, Shelley in Raising Hope, Clayface in The Lego Batman Movie and Velma Dinkley in Scooby-Doo since 2015.
Out There debuts on ITV1 on Sunday (January 19) at 9pm.
